WASHINGTON – ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, released the following statement from president and CEO Dean Garfield applauding the Senate for confirming Adam Klein as Chairman of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) and Edward Felten and Jane Nitze as members of the PCLOB.
“The PCLOB plays an important role in protecting privacy and civil liberties, and maintaining transparency and trust in how data is handled. As we quickly approach the second annual review of the Privacy Shield next week, confirming these nominees fulfills a key request by both the European Commission and Article 29 Working Party following last year’s review. Privacy Shield enables the free flow of data across the Atlantic that is essential to every industry and businesses of all sizes in the U.S., Europe and around the world. We thank the Senate for their leadership and prioritizing this issue.”
Earlier this year, ITI joined BSA | The Software Alliance in urging the Senate to quickly confirm these nominees onto the Board.
